Wow! Good job with Chipper Mike, Edie! He even became a bit more civilized...You were calm, reasonable - everything most of the rest of us wouldn't have been able to be! :o

(Hope your power gets on again before the next hurricane! ;))

Good job Edie and Happy Birthday!

I know that putting Chipper Mike on is good for talk, but I swear every time he opens his mouth, I am embarrassed to even be called a Braves fan.

He is funny in small doses as a recurring character....... ::)

I guess Bobby Cox felt the love I sent out to him today, because they have beat my Yanks 5-2. I hate when the Yankees lose, but if it means the Braves losing streak is over, then I can let this one slide. I only hope that this win has given them some confidence because playing the Yankees for teams down on their luck, oddly has always been a big motivator. Now they have to keep winning, because I want them to win the NL Pennant this year and not the Mets. I also want Chipper Mike to choke on all his words! >:(

So there it is. I have given the kiss to Bobby Cox and they got a win. Keep it up Atlanta... ;)

"He is funny in small doses as a recurring character" (I can't figure out the quote box either...) makes him sound like Titus Moody, Klem Kaddiddlehopper, or Joe the Bartender. Maybe that's how to look at him...and the rest of us too, I guess, without MP having to do the voices. :D

I guess I feel for Chipper Mike. Otherwise I would be cracking wise on him 24x7. He apparently has no idea what being a Braves fan can and will entail. There are a lot of Yankee fans like that. Any team that has a really long run of success will pick up a lot of fans like that. One of the reasons Mets fans want to have veteran fan talent around is because we're probably going to see a surge in "longtime" Mets fans and just like Lastings Milledge in Fenway, there will be times when those fans need some guidance to go along with their natural talent.

As the great Bartlett Giamatti taught us, baseball is a game that will break your heart. It will break all of our hearts, and not for the last time.

Going around blaming people for not winning is one of the bleakest things you can do in response to the wonderful drama of baseball.

To the new Mets fans: you missed 1999. No, we didn't win. But trust me, it was a hell of a year for stories. Chipper Mike? If you are reading this? Take a break from blaming people. Look around for some stories.

Do you really think Chipper Mike can read? Probably not. I'll tell you one thing, I have never turned my back on the Yanks and they have had some pretty bad years during their entire history. They were in limbo for a long time but a true fan keeps hanging in and hopes that if they don't do it this year, then there is always next year. Chipper Mike should not even call himself a fan of baseball. If the Braves can manage to get into a post season groove, I would truly be happy for them and especially for Bobby Cox. ;)

It is now the top of the tenth and I have been enjoying watching the Yanks-Braves, with Buck on the broadcast, as just a good game! (though of course Braves fans had their sinking feeling about the bullpen confirmed...on the other hand, Giambi hitting one out should not be considered a surprise)

I have to say that this has been a great game! I don't like the idea of the fans booing A Rod, or any member of the team, just because he is in a bit of a slump. However, his walk off HR sure showed them, as he gave us the win. I commend the Braves for playing some really good ball today. Smoltzie was great. The only thing that got me was, after all the excitement watching the walk off HR and savoring the moment, they had to flash on Bobby Cox, who looked like a poor soul just sitting there. I felt so bad for him. :( Renteria has been fantastic, and I knew getting out of Boston was the best thing for him. The Braves have nothing to be ashamed of. They have it in them. I know they do...

I hope very 'Yankee fan' that boo'ed Arod is enjoying their taste of humble pie today. To paraphrase the profet Chipperus Mikaleaus "That is NOT how we do it up here."

You, Mary? A Recurring character??! Heaven forbid.... 8-)

However, the fewer voices, particularly singing voices, MP has to do, the better! :D

Chipper Mike has GOT to be just some schtick that a guy down there has come up with. Nobody would be that much of a dumb&ss on purpose...... ???

I was on the Bozo show in 1964. I even got to kiss his Red Nose. :-[ I do miss all those Variety Shows. It didn't matter back then if you had a dysfunctional family or not, everyone still sat around the TV and watched Ed Sullivan, Jackie Gleason,Red Skelton and that was quality time, no matter how you look at it.

We also sat at the dinner table every night together, and shared a meal. ::)
