K Squared has used the post season awards to promote the inclusion of broadcasters in the voting process. He begins the discussion by suggesting that Vin Scully would be the logical choice. He always concludes with a statement of how much he'd like to have a vote. It takes a pretty inflated ego to include himself in the company of Vin Scully. You can't help but think he'd write "it is what it is" on the top of his ballot.

He probably wants it just so he can do a write-in vote for himself for manager of the year. Can you hear the MLB folks now, but Kevin "you're not a manager any longer!". As Barnsey put it, Kevin's response would be "it is what it is".

All the local announcers with 10 or more years should get a vote.

An interesting rainy day thought. The current process will in time need an overhaul. Diminishing outlets for writers will necessitate that. Although often miffed by selections, would I be any less perplexed if, say Ken Harrelson voted? Very few broadcasters overwhelm me with their overall knowledge of other teams. Their reliance on the media guides are typically the only resource or basis for comments. Often, the broadcasters influence selection with their commentary.
