From the first day that TBS started doing the games a few years ago, my opinion has not changed. It stinks! I agree with you David about getting a regular play by play guy. They need to do that for next season. Speaking of Boomer Wells, I have always liked the guy allot and still do, but Essai', what's up with the East LA outfit? He really looked out of place next to the other guys on the panel.Doesn't TBS have a dress code?
I almost feel guilty for saying this, but it has become very difficult to listen to the Buckaroo on air. I actually tried to make myself tolerate it during the good old days with BBTM, but it wasn't easy. Sadly, it has become intolerable for me now. Especially during the O's games. Gary Thorton has a great sounding voice and I enjoy him, but when Buck begins speaking, all I can say is ouch! It's like someone scraping their fingernails against a black board. I feel very bad admitting this, but I can't help feeling this way.

Buck's ego overrode his capabilities. This should be yet another tribute to Mark who carried Buck while he was there.

Holden and Jim fielded quite a few calls detailing TBS inferior presentation. I rarely watch the pre or post game panel. K Squared and Jeannie cured me of that. Most universally agreed that Ron Darling is head and shoulders above the other analysts.

I was very happy to see Boomer all cleaned up with a suite and tie on today. What a difference! Not that it will change the ratings, but he looked much more presentable.
I guess Darling is the best of the worst, so I can understand why they would feel the need to select him to call the NY games. Seems the logical thing to do.

He was getting great reviews regardless of the TBS situation. Other than Steve Stone, it's hard to find anyone else in that class.

Well, listening to the ESPN broadcast last night, I did get a little discouraged hearing Chris Singleton refer to his partner "Jerry" Thorne. But Gary kept calling the Rockie infielder "Clint Barms"(to rhyme with farms, instead of "Bar-mes" as everyone else has pronounced it since he came into the bigs.). Very professional, guys. "Thanks for listening."

I actually watched the broadcast. I thought Joe and Brian did a great job.

If they moved The Buckaroo to be a sideline reporter and gave him Craig Sager's pink sport coat, it would be a better broadcast. It gets a little crowded and often repetitive with three in the booth. Great game with the volume muted.

TBS began a much needed overhaul with the removal of Chip from their stable of announcers.

I never like to see anyone lose their job, but this is truly a case of addition by subtraction. Chip was in way over his head.
Cheers,

Chip Caray done at TBS
After a postseason of heavy criticism, TBS lead MLB play-by-play voice Chip Caray will not return to the network next year.
According to a memo obtained by the New York Times, Caray and Turner Sports have agreed to "move ahead on different paths." No replacement has been named, but Turner Sports president David Levy said in the memo that a "number of candidates" were being looked at.
Caray had been the lead play-by-play voice for regular season and postseason MLB coverage on TBS since '07, and also called Braves games on Atlanta's Peachtree TV.

I hope they perform a little surgery on the pre/post game crew also.

Huh. Didn't think he was *that* bad. You could tell he was just too excited calling that Twins game. I more laughed at the "base hit left field...caught out there!" I've always been in the "meh" party when it comes to Caray (as well as his grandpa and father, for that matter), but it seems TBS bowed to the fans and print media on this one. So much for the thought of "Take care of my kid when I'm gone, will ya?" from Skip to some TBS exec. Yikes, only 40 and your one fallback fires you.
