Do you still listen to 175 during the off season?
Post by jeffmets on Nov 5, 2009, 10:41am

Now that the season is over are you going to still listen to XM 175?

Didn't vote because I no longer have XM service. That said I very seldom listened to 175 when I did get in the truck after the switchover.

Waiting for the change in personnel. I'll probably always listen and dedicate myself to providing management a conscience.

I read what Barnesy says about the channel, and go from there. Maybe I will pop in if my Twitter feed looks interesting, or the facebook update shows a special guest I am interested in.

I have taken to not listening to the WS coverage, and really have not missed it.

I have been a faithful listener to MLB 175 since its inception through all seasons, but I am thinking I've been enjoying the commercial free musical bliss a lot since I boycotted all the analysis of the WS. So I think I'll still listen to the off-season, but not nearly as much as before.

I absolutely know today that Mark was an incredible on air personality, because how much I am able to just change the channel today. I bought new xm radios so I could digitally record his show when I couldn't get reception at work before the change. Today I'm not certain I'd replace my XM radio if it broke!

I will probably listen very little this off-season, just tuning in to MLB Netwroks hot stove instead. Except for Joe Castellano, I don't enjoy most of the on-air voices (and there are several cases where I would rather listen to fingernails on slate!)

I will listen about an hour a week.

During the season about an hour a day!

I will listen to hear the hot stove news once or twice a week.

I will listen about as much as I did during the season, which is to say not much at all. Actually I have been listening to XM in general very little. Even the music channels are shells of their former selves. The ones that I liked they either did away with them outright or watered them down to the point that they are unrecognizable.

Cheers,

Rosie

My radio broke in February and now I watch the MLB Network in place of XM.

Yeah, Jeff, I can imagine this World Series was a real punch in the throat for a Met fan. Now you know how I felt in '86. :-/

Anyway, welcome to the newbies, and please keep posting!

Rosie,

It was not a good year to be a Met fan.

I ended up cheering for the the hated Phillies in the series and even they lose! :-X :-X

One of my neighbors just spent close to $100K on a new Mercedes. It's been in the shop once a week. The Yankees and my neighbor prove that it's not always what you spend.

I think it had to do with almost the entire core being hurt last year. We will contend in 2010 ;)

Last year, The Buckaroo's prolonged contract negotiation centered around his desire to take time away during the off season.
Typical to Sirius management style, don't expect any announcement.
Two weeks ago, Scott informed us of pending "jury duty." Ginsu sales are brisk right before Christmas.

They always leave the listeners in the dark with stuff like this.

What do they do that? ???

Those old shows were great especially with Larry F. Bowa.

Do you know if their are any pod casts available on line?

Mark and Buck were the perfect blend for baseball fans to begin the morning. MLB on XM is now like every other bad local sports radio show with unknowlegable radio personalities.

It began with Sirius' assumption of control. An accomplished member of management known for his football prowess made one terrible decision after another. The Buckaroo and Scott did the impossible by driving Baseball This Morning out of the top rated show on Home Plate. A hockey based production staff contributed to the demise. Failure to recognize the need for a regular fantasy program left listeners with a once a week Friday evening show. The beat writers were stripped away when Charley was dismissed. Instead of maintaining Ronnie Lane's slot, they aired the game of the day. The residual leaves us with Seth moving to the morning slot in hopes of reviving the magic. Home Plate is rarely entertaining or informative. Management fails to recognize their subscribers. Only one way to go, let's hope Seth, Duquette, Casey, and Joe C can hold it together.

A friend of mine is a retired executive from the radio industry. He knows I am an avid listener and asked me what I thought of Baseball This Mornings plummet in the ratings. He didn't elaborate any further, and not being surprised, I didn't ask. I would guess Power Alley is on top now. I tried to call before answering but was unable to reach him.

Since the McGwire flap I have been listening more often, just to get a baseball fix. Today I listened to whatever-it's-called with Kevin Kennedy and whoever the other guy is and after half an hour all they had talked about was Facebook suggestions for Kevin's official nickname. What I thought as I turned off the radio is unprintable by ANY standards, not just a family show. :o

You have to feel sorry for Casey Stern. K Squared is still recycling his same old story. They are wearing out the Facebook promotion. They didn't acknowledge my suggestion for Kevin, "The I Man."
