It's amusing that Tim has just discovered after all this time, that the ball leaves the pitchers hand at a higher velocity then it arrives at home plate. You would think most catchers would know that.

I think he was addressing at what point the pitchs velocity is determined. I would hope he realized the pitch slows down and not speeds up as it arrives at the catcher.

The addition of Ozzie to the booth for the world series will clear it up.

Known better for vulgarity than managerial expertise, Ozzie is the baseball equivalent of Howard Stern.

It really doesn't make a difference to me who Fox and TBS have broadcasting. With 8:00pm and later starts, I usually only get to hear the first couple of innings anyhow. I understand that MLB baseball needs to make the most of their playoffs and get the largest advertising dollars they can, which is from 8-10:00pm (EDT). I don't care if my phillies are in it or not, I won't compromise my work by staying up till midnight to watch baseball (I do wake up in the middle of the night, and check the score on the internet though). I still listen as much or more to XM (home team radio broadcasts) as I watch baseball on TV. In bed by 10:00 pm and up before 5:00 am the next morning World Series or not!

I'll listen to silent picture TV before I'd listen to those two call TV. Anyone notice that McCarver had to correct himself on comments he made about once every inning? I think they know that McCarver's words are so closely parsed for errors, that they have someone fact-checking in the truck or the studio. If he lies, screws up facts, etc., he's being made to correct himself each time.

It's more than a one person job. Mark always defended Tim. It was one of the few things Mark said that would cause me to disagree.

Howard Stern totally disgusts me. It's true what you say about Ozzie, but what I find entertaining is when he goes on a rant and all you hear are continual beeps. It reminds me of Happy Gilmore, when he went nuts and for almost 5 minutes, and all you could her were beeps with a few normal words in it. That said, I think it is absurd to have him on air. He's not only ignorant, but he has absolutely no class at all.

Although McCarver sounds like he has dementia at times, his voice is not nearly as annoying as the other three. When I listen to Sterling, Waldman, and Buck, my ears feel as if someone has stuck knitting needles in them! Oooh, I hate when that happens.

The two geniuses they have on the pregame, Karros and Grace, are really something. I've never heard anyone speak in such certain terms about things they clearly know very little about. Along with Chip Caray, who doesn't seem to even understand the basics of baseball, they make me feel smart by comparison.
Cheers,
Rosie

Was it just me or were they calling Burnett, Beckett for the first two innings?
