Does Brad Lidge ever recover from this one? Took him a year and half to recover from Pujols.
If you are Charlie Manuel, do you use him again if needed on Monday?

It seems like Charlie is very loyal to his players. I wouldn't use him again this year.

I'd play him ... really what are his options? Madson has proven over and over that he really either isn't ready to close, or just buckles under the pressure (he's great in the set-up role though), Myers is off of surgery, and is not back where you'd like him to be to close, and his era etc. show that. Do you experiment with someone in the world series as your closer ... no I think not, so that leaves out Happ, Pedro etc. Lidge is it like it or not!
Lets face it, the Yankees have been by far the best team in baseball this year, and I really don't think anyone would stop them this year but them. Their starters where less than stellar all year, they still had over 100 wins. Their #1 offensive player missed a couple months with hip surgery, they still won 100+ wins. I mean really could any team stop them? Even last years Lidge might not be able to stop them!

And sometimes, you just gotta dance with who brung ya and brace for the consequences. The Phillies have left lotsa guys on base, so it isn't like the NYY pitchers have ALL been CC. Some of the hitters have been cold. That's just "the breaks of the game."

Although he did not have such a great season, I thought he might have turned the corner for a moment, but not the case. I don't think Charlie should call on him for the rest of the series. I think Manual's loyalty to Lidge has been commendable, but it gets to a point where the psychological aspect of a player needs to be tended to, and Lidge IMO, seems to have been frustrated because he has wanted to prove himself but it just didn't happen. I say call it a season for Lidge, let him get ready for a 2010 season in which I believe he can and will be as good as was in 2008.
Uh, the Yankees are not looking so good in the back end, other than Mariano. I start to panic every time they make a call to the bull pen. How did this situation get so bad? Is it the fact that most are young and inexperienced? What ever the case, they have been unable to get it done. I'm just venting here, but I believe that Girardi should have saved Burnett for when we get back to NY. Many of the analysts have also said this and I agree that he should have brought in Gaudin and see what he could have done for us, as we were up a few games anyway.
Now we will be unable to use AJ, and once again Girardi has made another bad call. I'm not feeling the love for him as manager yet (liked him as a player), and even if we do win the series, I won't be changing my mind about him any time soon.
